How to Apply to Early Head Start

Hello Spartanburg County!

Welcome to First Steps Early Head Start where we provide quality school readiness services to pregnant families and to families with infants and toddlers up to thirty-six months of age.

This is a great day to apply for Early Head Start services.  Our application process is year-round which means we enroll families throughout the year.  We prefer you call to schedule a time that is convenient for you to come into the office to complete an enrollment application.  We will respect your time and ensure that you are assisted promptly.

To process the application, you are only required to provide a minimum of three eligibility documents, preferably during your scheduled visit.  The documents required for processing are proof of birth for your infant or toddler, proof of family income for the previous twelve months (W-2(s), Tax Return, TANF or Social Security Statements or Letters, Child Support Statements, Unemployment Compensation Benefits, or other forms of earned or unearned family income) and proof of residency.  We give special consideration for children who have an Individualized Family Service Plan (Babynet IFSP), children in Foster Care and other vulnerable populations.  And we also provide services to infants and toddlers who have childcare vouchers.

Apply Online – Provide birth certificate, proof of income & proof of residency

Your application(s) will be processed in a timely manner and you will be contacted as soon as we have an enrollment opportunity available for your child in one of our centers.  We have classrooms in Spartanburg, Cowpens, Moore, Roebuck, Pacolet and Woodruff.  We currently have immediate enrollment opportunities available in our Home Base option.
